Acceptable Use
01Scope
This policy applies to every message relayed through justsmtp, on every plan, and forms part of the Terms of Service. Where the two appear to differ, this document governs sending conduct and the terms govern everything else.
02Expected mail only
justsmtp is a transactional relay. Send mail a recipient asked for or would recognise: receipts, password resets, alerts, notifications, one-to-one correspondence from your application.
Do not send unsolicited bulk email, purchased or rented lists, scraped addresses, or "re-engagement" campaigns to addresses that have gone quiet. We do not offer marketing-blast tooling and we do not want the traffic.
03Prohibited content
Regardless of consent, do not relay:
- content unlawful in your jurisdiction or the recipient's;
- phishing, credential harvesting, or mail impersonating another organisation;
- malware, exploit payloads, or links to either;
- material that sexualises minors, incites violence, or harasses a person;
- chain letters, pyramid schemes, and the rest of that family.
04Domains and identity
Send only from domains you control and have verified on your account. Do not forge headers, do not use a
From address you are not entitled to, and do not relay on behalf of a third party without telling
us. Verification exists to make that check cheap, not to be worked around.
05Bounces and complaints
Sustained bounce or complaint rates materially above network norms are treated as a signal that a list is stale or unwanted, whatever its provenance. Keep hard bounces out of your sending list, honour unsubscribes on anything that carries one, and do not retry a permanent failure.
06Enforcement
Our usual order is throttle, contact you, then suspend — because most breaches are a bug in someone's sending loop rather than intent. Active abuse skips the queue: we suspend first and tell you afterwards. Suspension does not delete your data, and reinstatement is a conversation, not a form.
07Reporting abuse
Mail you believe was relayed through us in breach of this policy goes to abuse@justsmtp.com. Include the full headers; they carry the identifier that tells us which account sent it. We answer every report, including the ones that turn out to be legitimate mail.
